About Amanda Collings
Since 2012 Amanda has been working as a self employed Counsellor, mainly under the umbrella of DTCS (Devon Therapeutic Counselling Services) and also privately. She has worked with employees of DSFRS, Mid Devon District Council, Devon County Council (including Schools), Exeter University, Exeter City Council and other external contracts.
Previous to that and for 11 years Amanda worked as a Counsellor for the Devon County Council's Wellbeing at Work in-house Counselling Service.
Amanda is a Registered and Accredited Member of BACP and abides by their Code of Ethics and Ethical Framework for Good Practice. From January 2011 Amanda has also gained Accreditation and this is updated annually.
She works in an integrative, person centred way, offering clients' guidance and support in making the right choices for their issues. It is important for her to focus on the client's needs, to build rapport early in the counsellor/client relationship to create a place where they feel safe and really heard. She believes that the core conditions of Unconditional Positive Regard, Empathy and Congruence are basic to all approaches/theories and enable clients to work in a safe and holding environment in which to explore their feelings and look at ways forward. She also uses additional tools and techniques connected to Transactional Analysis (TA), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Flexible CBT. Her special interests are relationships, anxiety and stress management, bereavement, amongst other issues etc.
